Our Vineyard Whanau

Karikari's vineyard culture is based on local knowledge and local character. The whole project of soil management, vine pruning and training and nurturing the vines through the fruit growing season is done in concert with the winery team under Ben Dugdale and Karl Coombes.

Now that the characteristics of the soil and climate as they relate to winegrowing are better known, with 10 years of experience, and 5 vintages, more effort is being made to allow the vineyard to assert its natural inclinations. That said, with the less positive features of this nature now better known the vineyard team has become more adept at managing these, to the long term benefit of wine quality.
